چکیده

The present study focused on conducting in silico analysis and investigating the tissue-specific distribution expression of catalase gene platyfish (Xiphophorus maculatus), which can be used as a model organism for studying stress responses fish. Assay steady-state levels cat transcripts by real time PCR revealed. level transcript was abundant liver (2162.21) compared with intestine (1270.94), heart (1241.25), muscle (419.157), brain (46.205), eye (47.57), swimming bladder (28.99), gills (81.18), spleen (95.45), kidney (20.25) ovary (91.16) testis (113.22). results suggest that is major site platyfish, significantly higher to other tissues. In addition, research involved using bioinformatics tools analyze genetic sequence predict its structure function. indicated Platyfish shares high identity similarity orthologs teleost species, including medaka, fugu, zebrafish. This observation suggests conserved among these fish gene’s function regulatory mechanisms are likely similar. conservation species highlights importance this antioxidant defense system potential role responding environmental stressors. exhibits structure, evidenced synteny orthologous cat/CAT genes humans. Overall, provides evidence highly contributes functional stability maintenance critical response mechanisms.

Occurrence and histopathology of Ascocotyle tenuicollis metacercaria in gill of platyfish (Xiphophorus maculatus) imported to Iran

The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of metacercarial infection in plathyfish imported to Iran. A total of 100 imported live common platyfish (Xiphophorus maculatus) from approximately 24 shipments were collected from a quarantine facility in Iran in 2007 and examined in our veterinary laboratory. Among 800 examined gill arches about 1300 cysts were found in different loc...

Cloning of the dmrt1 gene of Xiphophorus maculatus: dmY/dmrt1Y is not the master sex-determining gene in the platyfish.

In contrast to the situation observed in mammals and birds, a switching between different sex determination systems frequently occurred during the evolution of the teleost fish lineage. This might be due to a frequent turnover of sex-determining signals at the top of the sex determination cascade (master sex-determining genes in the case of genetic sex determination). Alternatively, different v...

Genetic linkage and color polymorphism in the southern platyfish (Xiphophorus maculatus): a model system for studies of color pattern evolution.

Color pattern polymorphisms are widespread in animals, and are found within populations, among populations, and among species. The southern platyfish, Xiphophorus maculatus, represents one of the most extreme examples of color pattern polymorphism. Extensive research with this model system for melanoma formation has resulted in an understanding of the underlying genetic basis of over 40 sex-lin...

A Sex-Linked Gene Controlling the Onset of Sexual Maturity in Female and Male Platyfish (XIPHOPHORUS MACULATUS), Fecundity in Females and Adult Size in Males.

A sex-linked gene, P, controls the onset of sexual maturity in the platyfish, Xiphophorus maculatus. The activity of this gene is correlated with the age and size at which the gonadotropic zone of the adenohypophysis differentiates and becomes physiologically active. Immature fish of all genotypes grow at the same rate; however, as adults, males with "early" genotypes are significantly smaller ...
